Plans of Mice

How many roads must a man walk?

So even the best laid plans can get derailed.

What am I going on about?  It requires a bit of a backstory.  Last year in August my dad took my brothers Mustang to get Transmission work done.  My brother started driving my dads Explorer.  The Mustang got fixed and just kind of sat around until I needed use of it in January.

I started driving it and noticed that what was supposedly fixed... Wasn't.  I kept asking Dad for the reciept so I could take it back and get whatever was supposed to have been done fixed.  He kept dragging his feet.  The problem had a simple solution.

An 00 Mustang starts with overdrive on, the problem was that it slipped in second gear unless you drove with overdrive off.  So I just always turned it off a nuisance, but hey it worked.  Last Thursday I parked the car in a parking lot got out, ate some food.  According to the surveillance footage the car slowly and quietly rolled across three parking lanes and stopped about a foot in front of a car.

I finally took the car in, I also apparently chose the same shop.  They seem uninterested in fixing the linkage issue unless we also pay to have the transmission issue fixed.  "If you don't fix it, you'll end up stuck at the side of the road somewhere"  The car drives fine with overdrive off, but he's likely right eventually it'll be stuck somewhere.  And with a 3000 mile trip in front of me I am not inclined to try my luck (which has always been stellar...ly bad).

My idea was to take the Explorer and give my brother his Mustang back (he seemed to want it when last I spoke to him).  Dad however thinks he needs the Explorer to move things to and from school.  His idea is to sell the Mustang and get something different for me to take to California.

What that'll end up being, or what will even happen at this point I've no idea.
